We all know that browsing Washington, D.C.’s many quaint shops and boutiques is a shopper’s delight on any given weekend. But this holiday season, that will grow tenfold when holiday markets pop up throughout the city, offering everything from nutcrackers to artisan jewelry to foodie gifts.

Downtown Holiday Market in Penn Quarter, located at F St NW &, 8th St NW, Washington, D.C. which is eight minutes from your 1331 Maryland apartment, is a long-running holiday market that features over 70 vendors and live music in festive, open-air digs.
The 19th annual market that spreads over two blocks returns through Dec. 23 and is open from noon through 8 p.m. everyday. IThis year’s retail lineup features Black-owned and minority-owned businesses from the D.C. Department of Small and Local Business Development’s (DSLBD) Made in D.C. program, while six food vendors will provide tasty treats and hot beverages.
Heurich House Christmas Markt, located at 1307 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, D.C. which is 15 minutes from your 1331 Maryland apartment, is annually held at a Gilded Age mansion in Dupont Circle.
This year, the 11-year-old market will be held from Dec. 1-3, making it a three-day-long event with over 50 artisan vendors. It’s part of the Heurich House’s Maker Month, which features artisan-led workshops, free craft stations, mini markets with the city’s newest makers, and a discussion with the house’s preservation team about historic craftsmanship.
